Close To My Heart

A little over two and a half years ago, my sister gave birth to twin boys. What should have been a joyous occasion for our family came about 4 months too early. The boys were born at just 24 weeks. Jayden was 1 lb 6oz and Gage was 1 lb 12 oz. They were given just a 15% chance of survival. It was not hard to believe once I saw them for the first time. They were no bigger than my hand and hand more tubes and wires than I could have ever imagined.

The next several months were with out a doubt the hardest months our families had ever been though. For my sister and her husband it was a living nightmare. Both boys had to fight for each day. But they had fight in them and they took each day on, prooving to every doctor and nurse just how much they wanted to be here.

Jump forward to today, lives are brightened every single day by the most adorable, most determined and most hilarious boys! They are both so animated it is almost impossible to believe how they spent the first 5 months of their lives. Not one of us forget for one moment just how lucky we are or who we owe our graditude.

For years, the March of Dimes has been raising money to support research for babies like Jayden and Gage who were born too early, as well as those babies who are born sick. It was this research that we have to be thankful for. It was because of this organization that we have these funny little boys in our lives.

It is because of everything that the March of Dimes has done for my family that we march in the March for Babies. We raise money for for future little fighters and thier families!

This year's walk is on May 5th in downtown Baltimore. We would love to have you as part of Team Herbert! If you can not walk with us, please consider donating to our team.
